A wild animal senses everything, but only responds to true danger. The human nervous system is designed to do the same.

A Quiet Roar is an opportunity to reclaim your relationship with Winter by immersing yourself in your own depths. During this time of year, we are naturally drawn inward, toward darkness and hibernation. Our vitality rises again in spring because we took time to touch our own source. Honoring natural cycles is one of the best gifts we can give ourselves and the world.
This multi-day retreat with a residential option will allow us to reshape how we hold ourselves and our lives in relationship to True Yin: the power that silently resides in stillness, depth, and movement beyond the confines of social convention.
So, yes . . . social convention: the internal and external scripts that tell us how to behave in order to be accepted by modern society. The problem here is how much of our humanity is left outside. The problem is how much of what is left outside actually constitutes the best parts of our humanity. Our innate vitality, found in the creative impulse that lives in the pelvis, the wildness that is our connection to life itself, and the natural potency of our drive to protect what is precious — this retreat is an opportunity to welcome it all back inside.
When we give up the endless effort of constraining and banishing our natural state and birthright, this is when we enter True Yin, and can finally be held by what is always here.
The retreat will hold to a spacious schedule with an emphasis on body-based practice, optional self-directed time for creative projects, and teaching and discussion to help clarify our understandings of yin and yang. We will also gently unpack the ramifications of living in a society that fundamentally misunderstands these core principles.
