SPECIAL EVENT
Dear Friends,
I’m delighted to invite you to the second annual poetry reading at Heart of the Valley Yoga. Last year I gave a reading to celebrate my ten year anniversary of qigong practice. This year, we are marking two years of teaching at Heart of the Valley and the completion of Monday night qigong classes at this location.
Qigong and poetry are both practices of presence, attention, and participation in life’s movements. As we usher in the coming winter, the season of descent and darkness, I feel moved to again spend an evening sharing the shapings of thought and language that both define and transform our lived experience. As I said last year:
There are tough topics here, and some adult content (probably not appropriate for kiddos). And in the midst of all of it, something has kept shining through the dark. At this time of year and at this moment in history, I hope my words serve as a gift and inspiration toward what is possible. Not simply with what is given to us, but in what we make with it.
Looking toward the completion of 2026 with my 43rd birthday on the horizon, I find myself somewhat less afraid of the dark, and ever more in love with the richness that can be forged out of its depths. I’d love for you to join in the exploration.
I have new works to share, as well as a continuation of the pieces that were too numerous to make it into the last reading! I may also get to introduce you to some special guest poet-friends.
Please note we will start at 7:00 rather than the usual 6:30 pm for qigong. Entrance will be by donation. No one turned away for lack of funds.
Details for getting your name on the list will be forthcoming. First just mark it on your calendars and don’t worry — we’ll be sure there’s space for anyone who wants to come.
I hope you will join us!
Warm wishes,
Georgia
