Walking Workshop

You’ve changed your shoes, but how about the way you move?

Many of us are dealing with pain in our feet, knees, and hips. Changing what we wear on our feet can help, but it’s only the beginning. The way we walk influences how and where stress is distributed through the body on a daily basis. When we change our movement habits, we can reduce pain and walk softly on the earth.

In this workshop, you’ll be guided through a sequential process to relearn the dynamics of walking. This includes swinging the leg from a relaxed core, allowing the foot to land on the softer pads, using gravity and rebound to produce momentum, and being drawn forward by an open, curious heart.

Put all this together and walking can generate energy, lubricate joints, and improve coordination. Once you get the hang of these new movement patterns, walking may just become one of your favorite forms of exercise. Or maybe it's not even exercise anymore. It's pure enjoyment in motion.
